Hey ASOPpers, I wanted to post some recent work here.

The first is a poster I created for the 2012 Annual Tinnitus Awareness Benefit Concert at World Live Cafe. The inspiration here was 'the beauty of sound.' First time ever being so restricted in the color palette. 2 colors is tough! AND I was even able to blend the two to create that darker purple-ish hue. I really struggled with that but I think it worked out well in the end. The was my first piece on my new Cintiq tablet, 100% digital. Special thanks to Matt Cavanaugh for the opportunity.

So I did this image for an Adult Swim themed show that opened at Gallery 1988 in Melrose California last night.. I'm still a big fan of Cartoon Planet and SGC2C, and I miss seeing episodes of the show... In particular I really miss hearing the voice acting... Also, I was a big fan of the way that the show was written and made by reusing old footage in interesting ways. If I get some time I'd sure like to do some other Space ghost related images this year...

One of the life sized taxidermied heads I made for the Cig Neutron series. I'm doing a limited edition run of 20 of these available HERE You can't tell from the photo but it's much larger than a human head. Basically the story is Cig Neutron wants to be the most aweful thing in the universe so he travels the cosmos hunting down the most Notorious beings, and takes their heads to ensure that nothing can be more deplorable than him. One of my pieces for the Adult Swim show that opens at this month at Gallery 1988 in LA. I am extremely excited to be a part of this show; it's a dream come true to be involved in something officially sponsored by Adult Swim.

I actually did this Birdgirl pin-up years ago and it immediately came to my mind when I was thinking of pieces I could do. (Birdgirl is from the amazing show Harvey Birdman, Attorney at Law) When I went back and looked at it, though, it was really obvious that my style had grown and improved quite a bit since I had done that piece. In other words, I felt like it looked too bad to submit. So I reworked it quite a bit and, hopefully, improved it with this new version. I also came up with the calender idea which I thought would be really cool since I could add some other characters in the form of doodles that Harvey had added.

I imagined the cold north woods. In hunger and desperation a fox attempts an ambush. The crows, too fast, laugh as they flap upwards to the safety of the pine trees.

I hope everything turns out well for the fox. The winter months are tough on everybody. Especially if you are on your own.

My newest T-shirt design which you can vote on here. It's an old-timey version of the world map from Super Mario World. It was a lot of work but a lot of fun; I really get into stuff with somewhat tedious detail work like this from time to time.

Working on this also took me back to when I was a kid and I really enjoyed going through all the extra materials that came with video games like the boxes and manuals. I used to sit and draw out maps like this for individual levels which I thought was just as much fun as actually playing the game.

I'm thinking this would make a good poster too. Please click on the image to get a much larger and detailed view.

We're kicking off a 4 exhibition run hosting the Philadelphia Cartoonist Society's Out to Dry 3, a show including sketchbook pages, limited edition prints, and framed work. I call it "8-Bit Nightmare" mainly because I used to get real into video games when I was young and started to have dreams about them! lol

Hey, Autumn Society Members - just wanted to drop some Teefury news...

I am a big fan of old-tymie things. I was really happy last year when I saw HBO had a show coming out about Atlantic City in the 1920's. The show has so many things I like. Scorsese is involved Buscemi is the lead. Who doesn't love that guy?. Plus all the sets, cars, suits, characters, music - this show is full of awesome stuff from my grandparents' heyday, when I would have preferred to live.

The one thing that really surprised me though was Richard Harrow's character. This lonely Phantom of the Opera/Slingblade type war hero took me by surprise and has turned out to be my favorite character in the show. He's that rogue, badass guy, kind of like Rorschach in Watchmen. I find these types of characters really interesting, and feel like they take stories in unexpected directions. Anyways, that's the inspiration behind this shirt design. I used old fashioned text, art-deco 1920's stuff. My buddy Mark suggested the light bulbs around the bottom text, like a marquee. I thought that was a nice touch.

Catball Eats It All - available in the App Store!

I'm happy to announce that the video game I've been working on for the past eight months, Catball Eats It All, has finally made it to the App Store!

For those of you who don't know, Catball Eats It All is an iPhone game based entirely off of my hand-painted and hand-drawn artwork, and so everything in the game has a unique texture and feel. In addition, my friend Ben Thornewill of Jukebox the Ghost provided all of the music, which creates a great atmosphere for the game.

“When We Were Young” is my first show as a curator and features a collection of nostalgic artwork from a range of international artists (including Autumn Society star German Orozco), the artists were given an open brief to be a free as when they were young and doodle, draw, paint whatever they want from their younger years, whether it be toys, games, books, music, experiences, role models etc.

On opening night there will be free booze and sweets as well as live drawing from the Cloud Commission and myself all set to a soundtrack of kids tv tunes and ad jingles.

Through the Autumn Society's efforts in Mexico (with the Iconoclastic Dead Show), emerged a collaboration with the MTV (Latin America) documentary, called "Agentes de Cambio."

MTV was present at the Autumn Society's "The Iconoclastic Dead Show" (@Guru Gallery / Mexico D.F.) where they interviewed Chogrin & German Orozco about possibly producing an art gallery themed to "Safe-Sex" & "Aids Awareness." Here's a commission I finished not too long ago for a music production studio. They wanted an original pin-up that involved a vintage keyboard synthesizer; beyond that I was given free reign. Luckily I enjoy drawing pin-ups and love the design of vintage electronics (a weird interest, I know, but us designers can find visual interest just about anywhere.)

I'm really happy with the finished result. I did some research on keyboard synthesizers and tried to stay authentic while still playing around with it here and there to give it a fun design.
